Saskatchewan has been a cornerstone of the Company since 1989. NAL has extensive production and infrastructure in southeast Saskatchewan and operates the vast majority of its assets in this region. Some of these key areas include Alida, Browning, Elswick, Midale, Nottingham, Steelman, Star Valley, and Hoffer. These wells typically do not require stimulation (resulting in lower capital costs), coupled with an attractive Crown Royalty structure, NAL’s opportunities in southeast Saskatchewan deliver amongst the best investment returns within the Company’s portfolio. The Company is also pursuing exploration opportunities in the deeper Devonian Torquay-Three Forks formation which is a tight light oil play on which NAL holds an extensive land position.
NAL has an extensive undeveloped land base in southeast Saskatchewan. Utilizing 3D seismic, NAL continues to identify impactful exploration opportunities that have been added to the Company’s portfolio, and intends to pursue several options to monetize these opportunities including drilling and farm-out.
In western Saskatchewan, NAL operates (at nearly 100% working interest) a large Viking oil field in the Plenty/Dodsland area. This area provides a significant and scalable inventory of low-risk drilling opportunities that has and continues to result in profitable production growth for the Company.
In southwest Manitoba, NAL has entered into a joint venture with a private company to explore and develop tight light oil opportunities within the Jurassic Spearfish formation.
